How It Started

IT STARTED WITH A VISION

TO HELP PEOPLE LIVE THEIR DREAM TO BECOME AN ACTION STAR

There has been a few competitions and tv shows created around finding the next Action Stars / Heroes and none more relevant than this Australian version.

If we think about what skills are important and some essential, in become a leading action actor, we will find there are many. Some can get away with raw talent while others need lots of training, but they all need a luck to be in the right place at the right time. We created the space and the timing for many hopefuls.

Our vision was to help people with the desire, but not necessarily the skills, or the look and then train them, in the core elements they need to succeed. We knew with desire we could help bring out hidden abilities and develop their skills, in fact we believed we could turn anyone into a star.

This is exactly what we did and as they say, the proof is in the pudding.

Now this wasn’t easy, we had to create the right environment, secure the trainers, judges, equipment and pull together the correct mix of candidates, so we could cultivate varied screen characters. Of course, securing the producers, sponsors and prizes was certainly the hardest task and we have a lot of people to thank for that.

The new project was reprised by Producer Graham Slater from the high acclaimed Chinese KStar Action Star (2006 Series) and two new producers, Glenn Coxon and Peter Mylonas.

For those that know, the KStar TV Series, was ‘search for the next Jackie Chan’ a competition that travelled to 10 countries to select the Top 18 from around the world, against the Top 18 from China. With a viewership of more than 300mil, it was certainly a genre that hit accord with many people.

What makes the new Australian version of ‘Action Star’ look so different and appealing?
Think of it as having some elements similar to,
‘Australian’s Got Talent, ‘Ninja Warrior’, ‘Big Brother’ and then some unique factors.
Like most shows, the
winner goes to Hollywood and gets a contract and that’s what we did.

What sort of challenges did contestants go through?
# Acting training # Stunt Choreography # Action Film Making # Modeling # Sky Diving, Abseiling Down Cliffs, # Wave Boarding # Rifle / Gun Shooting # Martial Arts / Weapons Training # High Performance Car Racing # Complete Ninja Style Obstacle Course # High Falls, # Wire Work # Cooking Presentation # Living in a Hollywood Style Mansion on the Gold Coast # To Create A Live Stage Performance (Grand Final).

What stage is the production now?

All of the filming is done, the winner went to Hollywood and all the footage is just waiting to be edited. There are a number of ways to cut this series (3-7 one hour shows) and various directions to take the story. We have left it at this stage to get the right broadcaster, to do justice to the amazing work these performers have put in.

With an
initial projected budget of 1.8mil, this was actually produced for a fraction of this cost. We thank to our sponsors, the team and talent working on reduced rates to make this possible.

So, if you are a broadcaster looking for some exciting new action content with a great story and broad demographic appeal, we should talk!
